16 Hosting Essentials: All the Basics You Need to Host
Become the ultimate host with these must-have hosting essentials!
Are you ready to take your hosting skills to the next level? Are you a beginner host, wondering what to have when hosting? Whether you’re a seasoned entertainer or just getting started, creating memorable gatherings requires some basic pieces. You don’t need to have a ton of hosting items, I much prefer a few staples mixed in with everyday items.
When I moved into my new home that actually had room for a dining table, I was immediately so excited to host! So I’ve compiled this blog post that includes my favourite hosting essentials including napkin rings, charcuterie boards, and more!
This post is all about hosting essentials.
16 Hosting Essentials
1. Placemats
First on the list of hosting essentials is these beige placemats. Simple placemats are a great way to “dress up” your table when hosting an event. You can choose either a set of 4, 6, or 8.
2. Food Covers
Looking for outdoor hosting essentials? Food covers are a must if you are eating or hosting outside! They will help keep bugs off your food.
3. Dinnerware Set
When it comes to dinnerware sets, I don’t think it’s necessary to have a separate set for hosting vs everyday use! It’s much more practical to have one simple set that you can use every day, and then easily elevate with nice napkins and accessories for special occasions! This simple cream-coloured stoneware set is the perfect balance.
4. Ribbed Cups
Serve cocktails or iced drinks in these cups, complete with straws! I love the ribbed design of these cups. You could set up a super cute drink station with these cups and a pitcher like the one below.
5. Glass Pitcher
Serve your guests delicious drinks in this large glass pitcher! The one linked above is 60oz, but the listing also comes with a few different sizing options if you’re looking for slightly larger, or slightly smaller.
6. Glassware Markers
Prevent drink mix-ups with these glassware markers! Your guests will know exactly which drink is theirs all night long.
7. Serving Bowl
The fluted design on these serving bowls is beautiful! It would go perfectly with any tableware set you have already. Use the large serving bowl for tossed salads at a dinner party, and afterwards for day-to-day use as a fruit bowl in your kitchen! Plus, it comes in a set of two.
8. 5-Compartment Serving Dish
Buy 5-Compartment Serving Dish
When making a list of hosting supplies, you have to consider serving dishes. Serving appetizers or finger foods is super easy with this 5-compartment dish. It’s perfect for serving nuts, veggies, dips, and more!
9. Charcuterie Board
On the topic of serving appetizers, everyone loves a good charcuterie bard! This bamboo board has the perfect setup – grooves for crackers, a flay display for meats/cheese, utensils that slide out, and even labels & markers! This board makes serving appetizers a piece of cake.
10. Glass Dome Display
Although typically used to serve cakes, this glass dome display could be used for so much more – display freshly baked muffins or quiche when hosting a breakfast, or baked goods for dessert after a dinner party! This display allows your guests to see what you’ve made, but also helps keep your food fresh for longer.
11. Tea Set
Hosting a daytime event rather than a dinner party? These elegant tea cups and saucers are simple and elegant.
12. Napkin Holder
This marble napkin holder is perfect to add to your buffet lineup. The reviews for this product are amazing!
13. Cloth Napkins
Another item on my list of dinner party hosting essentials is these cloth napkins. Dinner napkins are A great way to reduce waste when hosting, and elevate your everyday dinnerware. This cloth napkin set has a subtle stripe, but is still neutral and could be used at so many different events. You could also choose a bolder pattern or colour if you wanted a napkin set that stands out more!
14. Napkin Ring
Bring a modern touch to your event with these brushed gold napkin holders! These could be re-used for tons of different events, both formal and casual. They’re a super versatile hosting accessory!
15. Candlestick Holders
Nothing sets a cozy vibe like candles! This matte black set is so chic and modern, and would be the perfect addition to your tablescape.
16. Candlesticks
Of course, if you’re going to buy candlestick holders, you need candlesticks too! Add a pop of colour to your tablescape with these “sunset collection” candles. If this colour range isn’t your favourite, check out tons of other colour bundles including sage, pampas collection, golden hour collection, and more!
