One of the best ways to organize your home quickly is with storage baskets!
When it comes to getting organized around the house, I’m always looking for quick, simple, and inexpensive solutions. Storage baskets are my go-to storage solution for every room in my house. There’s so many different types that are versatile for all your organizational needs – fabric baskets, mesh baskets, rope baskets, etc.
If you aren’t already obsessed with storage baskets like me, let me convince you by showing you 12 different ways I use storage baskets in my home to stay organized. I recently did a blog post about the best storage baskets, but in this post I’ll show you where and how I use them!
Here are 12 ways to organize your home with storage baskets.
12 Ways to Organize Your Home With Storage Baskets
1. In your entryway
Entryways are naturally a space that gets cluttered quickly with shoes, hats and mittens, purses, etc. With storage baskets, you can keep similar items together (which helps you find what you need easier), and prevent a mess from building up.
2. In your closets
I am very lucky to have huge closets in my apartment! When I moved into this apartment, I knew I wanted to take advantage of the shelving with storage baskets. These large wire storage baskets are fantastic for keeping everything organized.
3. On your shelves
I love when organization solutions are stylish and functional. Storage baskets on shelves serve both purposes! I picked out this basket because it’s a cute accessory, but also holds random items in my office that I need like mail supplies.
4. In your living room
Store extra throw pillows and blankets in a storage basket! I bought a matching set of storage baskets that hold these extra items in my living room. It’s nice to have an extra cozy blanket accessible, but can also be put away easily when not in use.
5. In your TV console
If you have any open shelving in your TV console, storage baskets are a great way to keep them looking organized. In my house, we keep my boyfriend’s gaming equipment in one storage basket and extra cords (HDMI, adapters, etc) in the other.
6. In your kitchen pantry
In my post about small pantry organization, I talked about how useful storage baskets are for separating pantry items. I keep all my pantry items in jars, but keep “overflow” (restock items) and larger items in baskets.
7. In your kitchen drawers
One of my favourite places to organize is my snack drawer. Can anyone else relate? When you have multiple items sharing one drawer, storage baskets are an easy way to keep them divided. I bought these baskets at the dollar store, and they’re great for maximizing the available space in my drawers.
8. In your dresser drawers
Do you have overflowing dresser drawers? I use storage baskets as drawer dividers. It helps SO much to have separation between your items. I bought a few large baskets and put multiple in one drawer, but IKEA also has boxes with compartments that are great for dresser drawers.
9. In your laundry room
I have so many laundry products – detergent tablets, stain removers, wool dryer balls, bleach, and more. Since my laundry machine is what you see when you walk into my bathroom, I didn’t want a row of cluttered products to be in display. So I picked up these grey storage baskets that keep my laundry area super tidy!
10. In your medicine cabinet
My bathroom storage used to be totally overflowing with nail polishes, tampons, band aids, lotions, bath products, and so much more clutter. I bought these plastic bins from the dollar store (a common theme in this post), and they’re perfect for keeping my bathroom products tidy!
11. On your countertops
If there’s items you want to keep accessible on countertops, throwing them in a storage basket is an easy way to make it look more aesthetically pleasing. I have a small rope basket for my face cloths that I keep on my bathroom counter!
12. In your office
I work from home, which means I have tons of tech items like charging cords, headphones, microphones, and more. To keep my office in order, I have a basket under my desk that allows easy access to any of these items I need, without having them clutter my space!
