Top Rated Books
1. Don’t Believe It – 4.2/5
I love when thrillers are mixed with media storytelling, and this book is no exception. In this book, Sydney is producing a docu-series that follows her investigation into Grace, who has been in prison for 10 years for the murder of her boyfriend. As the reader, we get to learn what discovers as it unfolds. Every new character is a suspect, and every new piece of evidence could be critical! I found this super suspenseful, gripping, and intriguing!
2. Expiration Dates – 4/5
The concept of this book was super interesting and unique. Every time the main character, Daphne, meets a new guy, she receives a slip of paper that tells her how long she will be with them for. This takes the reader on an emotional journey, where you get to follow Daphne’s doubts, frustrations, and self-discovery. The short chapters made it a fast-paced, quick read for me. I also loved how this booked ended (but don’t worry, I won’t give it away!!).
3. Funny Story – 4.3/5
Funny Story is such a sweet, feel-good read! It’s about Daphne (yes, another book with a main character named Daphne), a librarian going through a rough breakup, who ends up as roommates with Miles—who’s also dealing with his own heartbreak. I loved how their friendship evolves in the most natural, heartwarming way, with plenty of equally funny and sweet moments along the way. This book is a light read, but still has enough emotional depth to keep it interesting. I really enjoyed this one and think you’d love it too!
4. House of Glass – 4.1/5
House of Glass is a gripping psychological thriller that kept me on edge. The story follows Stella, a lawyer who digs into the secrets of a family after a young girl witnesses a nanny’s death. As Stella keeps digging, the mystery deepens, and I couldn’t stop turning pages. The writing is suspenseful, with twists that kept me guessing. The characters are full of lies, secrets, and deception – it’s hard to know who to trust, which kept the book exciting. Also, the author also did such a good describing and setting the backdrop of the family’s eerie home, which added so much to the atmosphere. I finished this book in just 2 days – definitely worth reading!
5. Listen for the Lie – 4.2/5
This book had me hooked from the start. It’s a dark and twisty thriller, but has some humour infused which I love. Sometimes thrillers can be a bit too dark, so I love how the author changed up the tone with spots of humour. The main character of this book, Lucy, is caught in the middle of a murder mystery tied to her best friend’s death.
The story takes place years later when a true-crime podcast reopens the case. I loved the mix of suspense and modern storytelling, especially the podcast transcripts, which added such a unique touch. The story kept me guessing, and the exploration of memory and guilt added a layer of emotional depth I wasn’t expecting. This was such a fun and gripping read—if you’re into thrillers with complex characters and plenty of surprises, you need to read this one!
6. Ready or Not – 4/5
When I picked up Ready or Not by Cara Bastone, I was expecting a cute romance, but what I got was so much more! What I loved most was how the book focuses on the little things—those quiet, meaningful moments that make relationships feel real. The story isn’t super fast-paced, it’s definitely more of a slow burn. However, I found the pace aligned with the unfolding of the romance, it feels authentic that way! The book isn’t just about romance, it’s also about the importance of support, love, and finding your own version of family. All in all, if you’re in the mood for a heartwarming, thoughtful read with characters you’ll cheer for, definitely give this one a try!
7. The Mother-In-Law – 4.1/5
This book is all about unraveling the mystery of a Mother-in-Law who dies under suspicious circumstances. The reader is taken on a journey full of uncertainty and complexity, in the best way! One of the things I loved most about this book was that it isn’t just about the mystery/thrill plot line – there’s also a deep dive into family dynamics, misunderstandings, and more. I love that it is written from 2 points of view, and the timeline jumps around a bit too from past and present, which provides tons of context and engaging character development.
8. Blue Sisters – 4.3/5
Blue Sisters is an incredible book about 3 estranged sisters from a dysfunctional family, who are brought back together by grief. Each sister is incredibly different, and I was eager to learn more about their individual dynamics and family dynamics with each chapter. The dialogue between the characters was so captivating, it became a quick read for me. The author did an incredible job of weaving together emotion, heartbreak, and wit!
