Is there anything better than getting lost in a good book? I love reading, and usually books that are suspenseful, thrilling, and full of unexpected twists are my favourites.
I went through my list of recently read books and pulled together my top 9 addictive page turners. These books will have you hooked from start to finish!

1. The Perfect Marriage – by Jeneva Rose

This book is a suspenseful thriller that follows the story of a husband who’s accused of killing his mistress. Don’t worry, that’s not a spoiler! I’ve read books with similar plot lines before, but I found this one to be uniquely engaging. The wife, Sarah, is a defense attorney, which adds a unique layer to the book. The contrast between the main characters, and the constant flip flopping in my mind between is he guilty and is he innocent kept me hooked!
2. The Silent Patient – by Alex Michaelides

I included this book in my post on 10 Best Books to Read in 2021, so the fact that this still on my top recommended list in 2022 should tell you how good it is, right? To me, this book is the definition of a page turner! It had me hooked from the very first page to the very last, and everything in between! I was so intrigued, I never wanted to put this book down.
3. Verity- by Colleen Hoover
Verity was one of the first Colleen Hoover books I read. All her books are so good, but this one stood out to me because it was not only incredibly captivating, but also a unique plot compared to other books I’ve read. This book had it all – it was suspenseful, twisted, dark, disturbing, yet somehow still weaves romance in as well!
4. Reminders of Him – by Colleen Hoover

If an author makes it onto this list twice, you know they’re good! This is one of Colleen Hoover’s newest books, and it did not disappoint. It follows the story of someone who is trying to re-build their life after making some mistakes in their past. It definitely has romantic component to it, but also follows an incredibly compelling life story.
Be prepared for a full roller coaster of emotions while reading this book. You’ll feel heartbreak, compassion, frustration, joy, and so much more.
5. The Guest List – by Lucy Foley
The Guest List is a murder-mystery novel that takes place at a wedding on a remote island. It’s the perfect backdrop for an exciting mystery/thriller.
Sometimes mystery novels can feel a bit drawn out and slow, but I found this one fast paced and exciting. It seems like every character has something to hide, so it’s exciting to see everything unravel throughout the book.
Often I find it confusing when authors flip between different characters’ points of view, but in this case I found it fantastic and added to the suspense.
6. The Last Thing He Told Me – by Laura Dave

This book is the perfect combination of mystery and suspense. The novel is all about a father who disappears, leaving behind a note for his wife that leads her and her step daughter on a complicated journey.
I became immediately invested in solving the mystery, but it’s the journey to get there that’s most captivating. There’s tons of plot twists and flashbacks throughout the book help piece the story together.
7. Maybe in Another Life – by Taylor Jenkins Reid

A lot of the books on this list are thriller or mystery novels, but this one is actually more of a romance novel. However, it’s equally page-turning as the others!
Without giving too much away, the main character in this book is presented with 2 choices. The rest of the book flips between her choosing Scenario A, then Scenario B. I found this so interesting to see how just one choice can change the trajectory of your life.
If you want a good page turning book but don’t necessarily love thriller/psychological suspense book, I highly recommend this one!
8. Behind Closed Doors – by B.A. Paris

Behind Closed doors is another page-turning “domestic thriller”. As the title suggests, the book is all about what goes on behind closed doors of a couple who seems to have it all. When you are introduced to a couple that seems too good to be true, you know it will turn south but you don’t know exactly how or when.
This book will definitely give you the chills (it has some shocking and creepy elements) – these are all things that make the book such a page turner.
9. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder – by Holly Jackson

The last book on my list of best page turning novels is actually the first book of a 3-part murder-mystery series! I love when books are part of a series because it means when you get to the end and want more, you can jump into the next one!
You will become immediately absorbed by this plot line. It’s technically a Young Adult thriller, but I’m 27 and loved it so I really think it can appeal to anyone who loves crime mysteries/thrillers. This book follows Pippa, a teenage girl who seeks out the truth about a murder in her small town. The author’s writing is so captivating, and I fell in love with the fierce and smart main character.
One other part of this book that I loved is its unique format. It has a “journal-like” feel (with text screenshots, interviews, etc) that makes it feel as though you’re solving the murder alongside Pippa.
